One of the key features of the Explorate platform is transparency - making sure you have the best information possible about where your cargo actually is and how far away it is from being delivered is a hugely important part of what we do.
We currently use a variety of different sources to track the status of shipments, from a range of providers that use different methodologies. Some are relatively simple - for example, just reporting what the carrier's own website shows as its estimated arrival time - but some are much more advanced, taking into consideration terrestrial and satellite tracking data to extrapolate arrival times with (in theory!) greater accuracy.
Our goal is to analyse all these data points and benchmark them so that we can take advantage of the combined information that we receive, which we hope will increase accuracy in the data that we take action on, as well as what we present to users. Reduce the impact of errors caused from relying on a single source of data will have a significant impact across entire supply chains.
It is an ongoing process and we're constantly evaluating our current providers, trialling new ones, and considering other approaches to improve our tracking features.
